Happy 80th Birthday William Shatner!!!

For most of his 80 years, Mr. Shatner has been entertaining people around the world!  Many times throughout his career he has reinvented himself and has remained popular.  And it should go without saying that he will always be the ultimate starship captain!  Yes, the other Star Trek captains may have gotten more airtime than Kirk, but he will always be THE CAPTAIN that all the others aspire to!  I would certainly aspire to be a man like Kirk/Shatner, who has been one of my lifelong heroes!

I consider this man to be one of Canada's greatest entertainers.  Scoff if you like, but the man is brilliant.  So many times people had written him off, but he has a knack of finding something new that keeps him around, and popular.  And two Emmy awards can't be wrong.  And to the people who think he talks like every word is its own sentence, get off the drugs.  Watch David Caruso or Vincent D'Onfrio... They do "Shatner" better than "Shatner"!

People also scoff at the "musical" talents of Mr. Shatner.  I challenge those people to check out his Has Been album from a few years ago.  He collaborated with Ben Folds, and wrote or co-wrote most of the songs on the album.  And they cover his range from the self-deprecating humor we know him for, to his boisterous perosnality (listen to his lively cover of "Common People") to rather insightful peeks into this man.  Anyone who doubts this needs to hear the songs It Hasn't Happened Yet or What Have You Done (they will be added to below).

So, in honor of The Great Shatner's Birthday today, please go out into the world and...
